Dr. Ernest Valdez
Dr. Valdez can provide intravenous sedation for our patients who may suffer from severe dental anxiety as well as during the more complex procedures he performs such as impacted wisdom teeth removal and dental implant placement.
Dr. Valdez is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He earned a BS in Biology from St. Mary’s University and his Dental degree from the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. Upon completion of dental school in 1993, Dr. Valdez practiced dentistry in North Central New Mexico and Harlingen, Texas. In 1999, Dr. Valdez returned to UT Health Science Center Dental School and completed a two-year General Practice Residency with intensive training in hospital-based dentistry, oral surgical techniques, implant dentistry, advanced dental techniques, and intravenous sedation. In 2003, he was selected for a faculty at the UT Health Science Center Dental School as a general dentist in the Department of Oral Surgery (OMS) where he held a full-time position as an Assistant Clinical Professor for 11 years. In 2014, Dr. Valdez decided to leave the Dental School and practice as a general dentist.
Dr. Valdez continues to present continuing dental education courses in sedation and medical emergency management in the dental office for the UT Health Science Center Dental School. Dr. Valdez is currently a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Special Care Dentistry Organization, American Association of Hospital Dentists, The International Association of Clinicians and a founding member of the Lone Star Dental Sedation Study Club. On his spare time, Dr. Valdez enjoys community service, hiking, and playing guitar.
