Oscar G. Trevino, D.D.S.

drportrait.jpgDr. Oscar G. Trevino is a San Antonio native. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and The University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio. Dr. Trevino is a member in good standing of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and San Antonio District Dental Society.

Dr. Trevino has practiced 27 of his 33 years of practice in Northwest San Antonio. He focuses on both cosmetic and family dentistry. He believes it is important to never stop learning and attends numerous continuing education courses throughout the year.

Dr. Trevino founded Alliance Dental Center in 1987 and proudly opened the current Culebra Rd. location in 1998. The beautiful freestanding facility uses the most up-to-date technologies, such as digital radiography and intra-oral photography.

When Dr. Trevino is not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Nora, and family. He also enjoys golf, racquetball, cycling and scuba diving.

Dr. Young

DrYoung.jpgDr. Young was accepted to dental school without obtaining an undergraduate degree (had he stayed long enough to earn his degree, it would have been in English). In 1977, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Air Force during his freshman year in dental school. Dr. Young graduated from the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California in 1980. He was his senior class president.

His first assignment in the Air Force was at the Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, where he continued his education for an additional year in a General Practice Residency. He earned an intravenous sedation certificate in 1981 and was assigned to Hahn Air Base in Germany from 1981-1985. His other certifications and training include:

  • Combat Casualty Care Course, to include Advanced Trauma Life Support certificate, 1984
  • Certificate, Branemark Implant Training, 1985
  • Master’s Degree in Periodontics, The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, 1988
  • Certificate of Periodontics, Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, 1988
  • Second Intravenous Sedation Certificate, 1988
  • First Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate, 1988
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, 1992

Dr. Young was assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas as a staff periodontist and periodontics instructor to a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program from 1988 to 1993.

Afterwards, he was assigned to Wilford Hall Medical Center as staff periodontist in the Air Force periodontics residency program as well as Director of the Periodontal Therapist Course. This course trained the Air Force equivalent of dental hygienists to work alongside periodontists around the world.

Dr. Young then retired from the Air Force in 1996 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as part of an early retirement program to enable the Air Force to realign its rank structure. While on active duty, Dr. Young earned one achievement medal, one AF commendation medal and two meritorious service medals.

He started his private practice in periodontics in San Antonio, Texas in 1997, then joined the faculty at the UTHSCSA periodontics department part-time as an assistant professor from 1998-2000. He closed his private practice in 2007 to help develop the implant surgical protocol for the NeXsmile procedure.

Dr. Young served as CEO of Voxelogix Corporation at the time it won a Frost and Sullivan Award (2011), the first such award in dentistry in the 50-year history of that company, then returned to private practice in periodontics in 2011.

Dr. Young speaks nationally and is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Pavlin

DrPavlin.jpgDr. Dubravko Pavlin is a board-certified orthodontist with over 30 years of experience in clinical orthodontic practice. Dr. Pavlin is also a Professor of Orthodontics at the UTHSCSA Dental School in San Antonio, where he trains future orthodontic specialists. He is recognized nationally and internationally as a lecturer and an innovator/researcher in the area of accelerated orthodontics ("fast track" braces).

Committed to continuing education, Dr. Pavlin maintains memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association.

He is married and has three adult daughters. His other interests are in music and sports and he enjoys spending free time with his family.

Dr. Chu

DrChu.jpgDr. Chu grew up in Houston, Texas, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Houston Baptist University. He graduated from the University of Texas Dental Branch in San Antonio, the nation’s top ranked dental school. He then continued his training with an additional two-year general practice residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and University Hospital. During his residency, Dr. Chu received advanced training in oral surgical procedures, hospital dentistry and sedation procedures.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Chu is an adjunct professor at the dental school in San Antonio. Dedicated to providing the best care for his patients, Dr. Chu has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education. His unique skills enable him to provide safe and compassionate surgical treatment with predictable surgical techniques in a variety of settings.

Dr. Chu is happily married to his wife, Shari, and they have two daughters. In his spare time, Dr. Chu enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is a supporter of several charitable organizations in San Antonio, including the Achiever’s School, Down Syndrome Association, Morgan’s Wonderland, Kinetic Kids, and various other organizations that help individuals with special needs.
